The name of the country appears in the Gishiwajinden. It was one of the 12 Byeonhan countries that existed in Korea around the 3rd century. The Gishiwaden states that it was Byeonjin (Byeonhan) Goya. Goya means Kara, and refers to the area of ​​present-day Gimhae and Busan in South Gyeongsang Province.
