Born: May 20, 1805, Darmstadt
Died March 18, 1871. German historian from Heidelberg. He was fired from his job in the "Gottingen Seven Affair" due to his liberalism, but became a professor at the University of Heidelberg in 1844. He served on the Constitutional Committee of the Frankfurt National Assembly. His main works are "Geschichte der poetischen Nationalliteratur der Deutschen" (History of German National Literature) (5 volumes, 1835-42) and "Geschichte des 19. Jahrhunderts seit den Wiener Verträgen" (History of the 19th Century after the Vienna Treaty) (8 volumes, 56-66).
