A major industrial machinery manufacturer. In 1890, Kubota Gonshiro (whose surname was Oide at the time) founded Oide Foundry. In 1897, the company was renamed Kubota Iron Works. In 1930, the company was reorganized and established as a joint-stock company. In 1953, it was renamed Kubota Iron Works, and in 1990, it was renamed to its current name. It holds a 60% share of the cast iron pipe market, making it the top manufacturer. It also leads the agricultural machinery market, which it entered after the war. It operates a wide range of businesses, including diesel engines, building materials and electrical equipment for homes, and environmental products. Head office in Osaka, factories in Sakai, Utsunomiya, and others. Capital in 2011 was 84 billion yen, and sales for the fiscal year ending March 2011 were 933.6 billion yen.
