〘Noun〙 ("Ke" is the Go-on pronunciation of "temporary") A Buddhist term. In the Tendai sect, it is one of the three truths of emptiness, provisionality, and the middle ground, which are presented to teach that all existence reveals the absolute truth as it is. It teaches that all phenomena exist provisionally due to the harmony of causes and conditions. ※Zatsudanshu (1305) 5 "Confucius' five constants are expedient means of the precept gate of provisional truth."
