...The date of the Nyogo's entry into the Imperial Court is usually the year of the Emperor's accession to the throne or coming of age ceremony or the year after, but it is not necessarily specified. This ceremony was discontinued after the Northern and Southern Courts period, and was revived during the reign of Emperor Goyozei and continued until the end of the Edo period, with the last Nyogo's entry into the Imperial Court ceremony being held in December 1868 (Meiji 1) by Ichijo Yoshiko (Empress Dowager Shoken) prior to the ceremony of establishing the empress. However, the Imperial Family Law enacted in 1910 stipulates that the person who will become the empress is called the Empress and that the ceremony of her entering the Imperial Palace prior to the ceremony of the great marriage is called the Empress's entry into the Imperial Palace ceremony, which follows the Nyogo's entry into the Imperial Court ceremony that has been held since the Heian period. ...

…女御入内の時期は，天皇の践祚または元服の年あるいはその翌年を標準とするが，必ずしも特定していない。なおこの儀は南北朝期以降中絶し，後陽成天皇のときに再興されて江戸時代末に及び，1868年(明治1)12月一条美子(昭憲皇太后)が立后の儀に先立って女御入内の儀を行ったのが最後である。しかし1910年制定の皇室親族令に，大婚の儀に先立ち，皇后となるべき人を后氏といい，その皇居に参入の儀式を后氏入内の儀と称しているのは，平安時代以来の女御入内の儀に倣ったものである。…
