Born: February 17, 1699, near Crossen
Died September 16, 1753, Berlin. German Baroque and Rococo architect and painter. He worked for 20 years under Frederick the Great of Prussia. His most famous works include the Berlin Opera House (1741-43) and the halls of Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam (1745-47).
