A town in Ito County in northeastern Wakayama Prefecture. A major producer of Fuyu persimmons, the town also cultivates mandarin oranges and peaches. The textile industry is thriving, with pile weaving and clothing sewing being carried out. Timber is also produced here. Sanada Yukimura once lived here, and Sanada-an is located here. The main settlement is Kudoyama, which is served by the Nankai Koya Line and the Koya-Ryujin Skyline. In 2004, the Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range were added to the World Heritage List of the World Heritage Convention (Jison-in Temple, Nyukanshofu Shrine, and Koyasan Choishimichi). 44.15 km2 . 4,963 people (2010).
