Kushikino mine

Japanese: 串木野鉱山 - くしきのこうざん

A gold and silver mine operated by Mitsui Kushikino Mines in Ichikikushikino City, Kagoshima Prefecture. Mined by the Satsuma Domain from the Edo period, it was transferred to the Mitsui Group in 1906 and has been operated by the Mitsui group ever since. The deposit is a gold-silver-bearing quartz vein that fills the cracks in the andesite. Upward stepped excavation is carried out inside the mine and stepped excavation outside (→ stepped mining method). The crude ore is dressed and the concentrate is smelted to produce gold and silver.

鹿児島県いちき串木野市にある三井串木野鉱山の経営する金・銀鉱山。江戸時代から薩摩藩により採掘され，1906年三井組に移り，以後三井系が経営している。鉱床は安山岩中の割れ目を充填した含金銀石英脈で，坑内では上向き階段掘り，坑外では階段掘りを行なう (→階段採掘法 ) 。採掘粗鉱は選鉱し，精鉱は製錬して金，銀を産している。
