Yanagawa Icchosai

Japanese: 柳川一蝶斎 - やながわいっちょうさい

Japanese magician. (1) First generation: Date of birth and death unknown. A disciple of the first generation Yoro Takigoro, his original name was Yanagawa Chonosuke. He was active in Edo and is well known for the song "Ukare no Cho no Kyoku." In 1837 (Tenpo 8), he performed for the Shogun, and later received Fujiwara Kiyotaka, the Yanagawa Bungo Daijo. (2) Second generation: Date of birth and death unknown. Born to a gardener in Komagome, Tokyo. A disciple of the first generation. He succeeded the second generation around 1880 and made a name for himself in the vaudeville theater. (3) Third generation (1847-1909∥Koka 4-Meiji 42): Real name was Aoki Jisaburo.

日本手品師。(1)初代　生没年不詳。初代養老滝五郎の門弟で，初名は柳川蝶之助。江戸で活躍し，〈うかれの蝶の曲〉でよく知られる。1837年(天保8)に将軍の上覧を仰ぎ，のち柳川豊後大掾（ぶんごのだいじよう）藤原清高を受領した。(2)2代　生没年不詳。東京駒込の植木屋に生まれる。初代の門弟。1880年ごろに2代を継ぎ，寄席で名を上げた。(3)3代(1847‐1909∥弘化4‐明治42)　本名青木治三郎。
