〘Noun〙 (meaning the number nine, the extreme positive number, overlaps) One of the five seasonal festivals. It is the ninth day of the ninth month of the lunar calendar. Also, the festival. Choyo no sekku . Chrysanthemum festival. 《Season: Autumn》※Shoku Nihongi - Tenpyo Hoji 2nd year (758), March Xinshi "The ninth day of the ninth month is an auspicious day for both public and private life, and the two yang days are the same , and this festival continues forever." [Du Fu - Poem on the ninth day] [Eloquence] (1) The custom of wearing jujube and drinking chrysanthemum wine on the ninth day of the ninth month as an auspicious day became established during the Han dynasty, and after the Five Dynasties, fusi was performed at drinking parties at the imperial court. This event was introduced to Japan, and the first banquet can be seen in the "Nihon Shoki - Tenmu 14th year ( 685 ), September." During the reign of Emperor Saga, it became established as an annual imperial court event.
(2) Originally, poetry banquets were for the composer of Chinese poetry, but examples of waka poetry can be found in the Kokinshu. As time went on, chrysanthemum-themed clothing and chrysanthemum-matching outfits came to be added, and the chrysanthemum festival became more prominent.

〘名〙 (陽数の極である九が重なる意) 五節供の一つ。陰暦九月九日のこと。また、その節会(せちえ)。重陽の節。菊の節供。《季・秋》※続日本紀‐天平宝字二年(758)三月辛巳「卒土公私、一准重陽、永停此節」 〔杜甫‐九日詩〕[語誌](1)九月九日を吉日として、茱萸を身に着け、菊酒を飲む習俗が漢代には定着し、五代以後は朝廷での飲宴の席で賦詩が行なわれた。この行事が日本にも伝わり、「書紀‐天武一四年(六八五)九月」に見えるのが最初の宴である。嵯峨天皇の時代に毎年の宮廷行事として定着した。
(2)詩宴は漢詩文を賦するのが本来であるが、和歌の例も「古今集」に見られる。また、時代が下るにつれ、菊の着せ綿や菊合わせなどが加わり、菊の節供としての色合いが強調されるようになる。
