A powerful samurai family in Hizen and Chikugo during the Middle Ages. Descendants of the government officials (Dazaifu officials). They were of the same clan as the Kikuchi clan of Higo and the Takagi clan of Hizen, and their original surname was Fujiwara. Their main family was Hizen, and they belonged to the Matsuura clan. At the end of the Heian period, Kusano Eihei was recommended by Minamoto no Yoritomo and was confirmed as both the provincial governor and the governor of Chikugo, and the chief priest of Hizen Kagami Shrine, for his meritorious work on the side of the Minamoto clan, when the various clans in his jurisdiction were allied with the Taira clan. The Illustrated Story of the Mongol Invasions depicts Tsunehisa (dharma name Enshu) fighting bravely. During the Nanboku-cho period, Tsunehisa was based in Kusano Castle in Yamamoto County and initially worked on the side of the samurai, but as the Southern Court's Seiseifu advanced into Chikugo, Nagayuki (Sachi) followed Kikuchi Takemitsu and fought in various places.
