Tires with cords arranged perpendicular to the tire's circumference are called radial tires, and are used on sports cars and passenger cars because they are excellent for high-speed driving. The tread is the part of the tire that comes into contact with the road surface, and is responsible for transmitting the forces of acceleration, braking, and cornering of the car to the road surface. The surface has grooves to increase the anti-slip effect and to drain water from the contact area when it rains.
