Airborne Command Post

Japanese: 空中指令機 - くうちゅうしれいき（英語表記）airborne command post

Abbreviation: ACP. A large aircraft equipped with the necessary equipment to wait in the air in the event of an emergency and to allow the commander, staff, and operator on board to function as an alternative command post if the command post on the ground is destroyed. There are various levels of aircraft, from national-level command aircraft that would command strategic forces in the event of an all-out nuclear war, to command aircraft that would command battles in a single region. All of them take advantage of the fact that they are airborne, making them less susceptible to damage from nuclear attacks and expanding the area that communications can cover.

略称ACP。有事の際に空中で待機し，地上の指揮所が破壊された場合，搭乗している指揮官，幕僚および操作員が，代替指揮所の機能を果たせるように必要な器材を搭載した大型航空機。全面核戦争時に戦略軍を指揮する国家レベルの指令機から，一地域の戦闘を指揮する指令機まで各レベルのものがある。いずれも空中にあることにより，核攻撃による被害をこうむりにくいことと通信のカバーする領域が拡大される利点を活用したものである。
