Born: November 29, 1839 in Vienna
[Died] December 10, 1889. Vienna, Austrian playwright and novelist. After a career as an actor, he turned to playwright. His most successful play was the anti-church play Der Pfarrer von Kirchfeld (1870). His other works included the naturalistic plays Der Meineidbauer (71), Das vierte Gebot (77), and the realistic novel Der Sternsteinhof (85).
