Tenzo (English spelling) thread rolling

Tenzo (English spelling) thread rolling

A forming method in which material is sandwiched between dies and rotated relative to one another. This is used to form screws or gears. The major advantages of rolling are that the processing time is significantly shorter than cutting, and since there are no cuts in the flow of metal, it produces products with superior strength. There are two types of thread rolling: the reciprocating type, which uses flat dies, and the rotary type, which uses round dies; the latter is available as a two-roll type or a three-roll type. The reciprocating type is mainly used for mass production of small screws, while the rotary type is used for forming high-precision screws (such as bolts) and processing special screw parts. There are also rack and pinion types for gear rolling.
