Born: April 4, 1904. Skopin, Ryazan [Died] October 29, 1941. Moscow Soviet playwright. Graduated from the Moscow State University of Journalism in 1924. His early plays show the influence of the cultural group Proletklit, but after Volch'ya tropa (1928) he overcame this schematicism and aimed to delve deeper into the psychology of his characters and portray them more realistically. His representative works include Chudak (29), Strakh (30), and the human comedy Mashen'ka (40).
