1412‐68 A unifier of the Uzbeks. After being crowned Khan in 1428, he pacified the nomadic forces in various parts of the Kipchak steppe (now the Kazakh steppe) (1446) and established the so-called nomadic Uzbek state. Using his military power, he often invaded Timurid territory, and even intervened in its internal affairs, such as helping Abū Sa'id ascend to the throne in 51. In 56, he was defeated in battle by the Oirats, and died while struggling with the defections of the various forces under his control.
