A royal general of Silla, Korea. His pen name was Insu. He was the second son of King Muyeol and the younger brother of King Munmu. From 651 until his death in the Tang capital Chang'an, he traveled to Tang seven times, and stayed in the Tang emperor's guard for a total of 22 years, playing a key role in diplomacy between Tang and Silla. In 660, he led the Tang army as deputy commander in Emperor Gojong's expedition to Baekje, and from 661 to 668, he conveyed Gojong's orders to his home country and led the Silla army during the expedition to Goguryeo. There was also an incident in which Emperor Gojong invested Kim Inmun as king of Silla in place of King Munmu (674). [Ooi Tsuyoshi]
