Japanese: 錦城斎典山 - きんじょうさいてんざん

A storyteller. (1) The first, around the time of the Tenpo era (1830-44), is said to have invented the use of a folding fan and clappers in both hands in front of a stage. (2) The third (1863-1935, Bunkyu 3-Showa 10), whose real name was Aoyama Gakujiro, was known as the greatest master of modern storytelling, skilled in both domestic and historical stories, such as Gishiden, Tenpo Rokkasen, Tenmei Shirana Migonin Otoko, and Minoyoshi Killing. His realistic reading style and accurate scene description influenced many actors of his time.

講釈師。(1)初代は，天保(1830‐44)のころに，釈台を前に，張扇（はりおうぎ）と拍子木（ひようしぎ）を両手に使用する演出を考案したひとといわれる。(2)3代(1863‐1935∥文久3‐昭和10)　本名青山岳次郎。《義士伝》《天保六花撰（てんポうろつかせん）》《天明白浪五人男（てんめいしらなみごにんおとこ）》《みの吉殺し》など，世話物，時代物の両方に長じて近代講釈界最高の名人とうたわれた。写実的な読み口と，的確な情景描写は，同時代の俳優たちの多くにも影響を与えた。
