Jinsan, Naju, Jeollanam-do, Korea. It is still a major center of shamanism in Korea. There is Geumseongsansa, which consists of five shrines: Sangsilsa, Jungsilsa, Hasilsa, Guksaish, and Nejodang. In the Najumok section of the Dongguk Yoji Seungnam, it is said that in the fourth year of King Chungnyeol's reign in Goryeo (1278), the god of Geumseongsan descended to a shaman and said, "I was instrumental in conquering Jindo and Tamna, so why am I not being rewarded? It should be given to Prince Jeongnyeong." The king offered five koku of official salary every year and held a memorial service in spring and autumn. It seems that faith in Geumseongdang became popular from the end of the Goryeo period. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
