Kinsha (golden gauze) - car

Japanese:
Kinsha (golden gauze) - car
A gauze with a pattern sewn or embroidered on it. In particular, the one with gold thread sewn into it is called "shakin" and the one with embroidery is called "nuikinsha," to distinguish between the two. This weaving method is said to have been introduced to Japan during the Genna era (1615-24), but it is believed that kinsha itself, along with brocade, was introduced before the Muromachi period. It is admired for its unique light and gorgeousness, and has been used widely for summer robes and for mounting calligraphy and paintings for tea ceremonies. Today, most kinsha that are known as "famous fabrics" are imported from China, but the fabrics called "Zeniya," "Kankinya," and "Takeyamachi" are famous as Japanese-made kinsha.
