An organization that selects and produces "good books" and distributes them by mail to members at a lower price than the retail price. The first was the BOMC (book of the month club), which was founded in the United States in 1926. Most of these organizations print, produce, and distribute books themselves, and have had a major influence on the publishing industry. In the United States, many clubs have been established due to the small number of bookstores in spite of the country's large land area, and some of these are large organizations with hundreds of thousands of members or more. Book clubs are also popular in Western Europe, and in Japan, the All Japan Book Club was established in 1969, but was soon dissolved. BOMC (book of the month club)が設立されたのが最初。
