Kiyosu Castle

Japanese: 清須城 - きよすじょう

The ruins of a castle in Kiyosu Town, Nishikasugai County, Aichi Prefecture. In 1418 (Oei 25) the travel journal of the poet Shotetsu states that the residence of the Owari Shugo was in Kiyosu. The castle was established around 78 (Bunmei 10) when the Shugodai (deputy governor) Oda Toshimasa moved the Shugo's office from Shimotsu to Kiyosu, and in 85 it was called Kiyosu Castle. In 83, Shugo Shiba Yoshiyoshi was appointed, and he was succeeded by Yoshitada and Yoshimune, but in 1553 (Tenbun 22) Yoshimune was killed by Shugodai Oda Nobutomo, and his son Yoshikane asked Oda Nobunaga for help, so in 1555 (Koji 1) Nobunaga killed Nobutomo and entered Kiyosu Castle.

愛知県西春日井郡清洲町にある城跡。1418年(応永25)歌僧正徹の旅行記には清須に尾張守護の居館のあったことが記されている。城館は78年(文明10)ころ守護代織田敏定が守護所を下津（おりつ）から清須に移したのに始まり，85年には清洲城と呼ばれている。83年に守護斯波義良が迎えられて以後義達，義統と続いたが，1553年(天文22)義統は守護代織田信友に殺され，その子義銀が織田信長に援を求めたので，55年(弘治1)信長は信友を討って清須城に入った。
