Tucana (Tucana)

Japanese: きょしちょう座(巨嘴鳥座) - きょしちょうざ（英語表記）Tucana

Its abbreviation is Tuc. It is a small constellation near the south celestial pole. It first appeared in a star atlas by J. Bayer in 1603, along with other southern animal constellations, and the big-beaked bird is a toucan (toucan) native to South America. This constellation is not visible from Japan. Alpha star is magnitude 2.9, spectral type K5, and is 140 light years away. This constellation contains the Small Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. Other globular clusters include NGC104 and NGC362. Its approximate position is 23h45m in right ascension and -68° in declination.

略号はTuc。天の南極付近にある小星座。1603年にJ.バイヤーの星図に，他の南方の動物の星座とともに初めて現れたもので，巨嘴鳥は南アメリカ原産のオオハシ(トゥーカン)である。この星座は日本では見えない。α星は2.9等，スペクトル型K5,140光年の距離にある。この星座には，銀河系の伴銀河の一つ小マゼラン銀河がある。ほかに球状星団NGC104,NGC362がある。概略位置は赤経23h45m，赤緯－68゜。
