However, the location of the ruins of the Western Zhou Dynasty's Chengzhou and the Eastern Zhou Dynasty that succeeded it is unknown archaeologically. However, the prevailing theory is that the location of Chengzhou is the site of the Han-Wei Luoyang Castle, located 15km east of Luoyang City. [Takeji Iijima]

Surveys conducted in 1954 and 1955 revealed that the Henan prefecture city, which existed during the Western Han period, was built on the site of the Eastern Zhou royal city, but its scale was only about one-quarter of that of the former city.
