Fish Genki - Gyogenki

A female poet of the late Tang Dynasty in China. Her pen name was Huilan or Youwei. She was born into a brothel in Chang'an (Xian, Shaanxi Province), but she loved reading and was gifted with poetry. She was well known among the refined people of Chang'an, with whom she exchanged poems. She is particularly famous for her relationship with the poet Wen Tingyun. At a young age, she became a concubine to Li Yi (whose pen name was Zi'an) of Buque, and lived a happy life, but the wife became jealous of her, and she entered the Kan'yi Temple and became a female Taoist priest. She was later executed for murdering a maid, ending her short life. Among the 46 extant poems, there are well-known works such as "I have written about the willows of the riverside," which shows the phenomenon of poetry spreading throughout society. Mori Ogai wrote the novel "Gyo-genki." One volume of "Tang Joryou Gyo-genki Shi" remains.

中国、晩唐の女流詩人。字(あざな)は恵蘭(けいらん)また幼微(ようび)。長安（陝西(せんせい／シャンシー)省西安(せいあん／シーアン)市）の娼家(しょうか)に生まれたが、読書好きで詩才に恵まれ、長安の風流人士に名を知られ、彼らと詩を応酬した。ことに詩人温庭筠(おんていいん)との交際が有名である。若くして補闕(ほけつ)の李億(りおく)（字は子安）の妾(しょう)となり、幸福な生活を送ったが、夫人に嫉妬(しっと)され、咸宜観(かんぎかん)に入って女道士となった。のち侍女を殺した科(とが)で死刑に処せられ、短い生涯を閉じた。現存46首には「賦(ふ)し得たり江辺の柳」など、人口に膾炙(かいしゃ)した作品があり、詩が社会的に広まっていた現象を物語る。森鴎外(おうがい)に小説『魚玄機』がある。『唐女郎魚玄機詩』1巻が残る。
