…Theories of crime etiology can be divided into two types: the multifactorial theory, which sees crime as arising from the interaction between disposition and the environment, and the integrated theory, which explains the process of crime in a unified and comprehensive manner, as in the general theory of crime and delinquency in the American sociology of crime. The multifactorial theory was systematized in Europe in the first half of the 20th century by G. Aschaffenburg and others, but was later made more thorough by the multifactor theory of Glück and others who quantified the various factors of delinquency and conducted research on delinquency prediction in the United States. The results of the multifactor theory are of great use in clarifying the causes of delinquency in individual delinquents and in the practical demand of corrective treatment, but the theoretical aspect of explaining the relationship between many factors is insufficient. …
