Kyoken - Kyoken

North Korean politician. Born in Myeongcheon, North Hamgyong Province. Graduated from Bosung Technical School and Meiji University in Japan. He became a lawyer and made a name for himself by defending those accused of nationalist movements. In 1929, he became chairman of the Shinkankai Central Executive Committee. In the same year, he was arrested and imprisoned in connection with the People's Rally in Support of the Gwangju Student Struggle. After liberation in 1945, he served as vice chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Founding of the Republic, chief chairman of the Democratic National Front, and chairman of the South Korean Workers' Party. He fled north, and became the first chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, whose founding was proclaimed in September 1948, and chairman of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland in 1949. He died in August 1951 (although some say he died in an accident). Father of Heo Jeong-suk.

北朝鮮の政治家。咸鏡北道(かんきょうほくどう／ハムギョンプクド)明川生まれ。普成専門学校、日本の明治大学卒業。弁護士となり民族運動被告の弁護で名をあげる。1929年新幹会中央執行委員長。同年、光州学生闘争支援の民衆大会事件で逮捕、服役。1945年解放後、建国準備委副委員長、民主主義民族戦線首席議長、南朝鮮労働党委員長などを務める。避難して北に入り、1948年9月創建を宣布された朝鮮民主主義人民共和国の最高人民会議初代議長、1949年祖国統一民主主義戦線議長。1951年8月死去（事故死ともいわれる）。許貞淑(きょていしゅく／ホジョンスク)の父。
