Far East -

Japanese:
Far East -

A translation of Far East. The region in eastern Asia facing the Pacific Ocean. It means the region furthest east from Europe. In the narrow sense, it refers to the area including Japan, the Korean Peninsula, eastern Siberia, and China, and in the broad sense, it can also include Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the eastern Russian Federation, but it is often used loosely, like the Near East and Middle East.

In addition, Article 6 of the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty states that the U.S. military may use facilities and areas in Japan "in order to contribute to the maintenance of international peace and security in the Far East," and the scope of this "Far East" has been a subject of debate in the so-called defense issues of our country. Please refer to the "Japan-U.S. Security Treaty" section for more information on this issue.

Japanese:

Far East
