Blind seat - Blind

Japanese: 簾座 - すだれざ
Blind seat - Blind
During the Muromachi period, there were merchant guilds that sold blinds. There are two known merchant guilds that sold Yamato's famous thatched blinds, which are as famous as Iyo blinds and Naniwa reed blinds. There were two guilds: Nara-za and Otogi-za. In Nara, Nara-za provided blinds to Kofuku-ji Temple for the Vima-e and Wakamiya Festivals, and regular official services to Kofuku-ji Temple's Ichijo-in Temple, and in Kyoto, they provided blinds for the Kamo Aoi Festival and paid official services to the Honjo Ichijo family. Nara-za had the exclusive right to sell blinds in Yamato (including Nara) north of Kofuku-ji Temple and in Kyoto. These blinds were produced by residents of Otogi-sho in Yamato, and Nara-za merchants purchased them from the residents.
