Date of birth and death unknown. An Aristotelian scholar from around 70 BC. Born in Rhodes. 11th head of Lyceum, Aristotle's school. At the time Aristotle's early works were widely available to the general public, but he classified Aristotle's lecture drafts from his time at Lyceum and compiled and published them in the form of the complete collection that exists today. He also wrote annotations for these, which are significant in that they organized Aristotle's works and left them for future generations. However, this meant that his early works were not handed down. The name "metaphysics" is thought to come from the phrase "ta meta ta physika," which means "that which comes after physical science," used at the time of compilation.
