Anorthite (English spelling)

Japanese: アノーサイト（英語表記）anorthite

A type of mineral. Also called anorthite. Plagioclase forms solid solutions, and anorthite is the Ca end member of these. Its chemical composition is CaSi ₂ Al ₂ O ₈ , but it contains less than 10 mol% NaSi ₃ AlO _8. It has a triclinic crystal system, mainly forming plate-like or columnar crystals with developed {010} faces, and cleavage is {001} or {010}. It has a glassy luster and is colorless, but when altered, it turns white or gray. Its Mohs hardness is 6 to 6.5, and its specific gravity is 2.75 to 2.77.

鉱物の一種。灰長石ともいう。斜長石は固溶体を形成するが，アノーサイトはこのうちのCa端成分をいう。化学組成はCaSi₂Al₂O₈であるが，NaSi₃AlO₈成分を10mol％以下含む。結晶系は三斜晶系で，おもに｛010｝面の発達した板状結晶または柱状結晶をなし，へき開は｛001｝や｛010｝である。ガラス状光沢をなし，色は無色であるが，変質を受けると白色や灰色になる。モース硬度は6～6.5で，比重は2.75～2.77である。
