[1] [noun] ① A doll made in Kyoto. Examples include Saga dolls, Kamogawa dolls, and Zenji dolls. In the narrow sense, it refers to a doll of a young girl with a bob haircut. The clothes are made separately. ※Storybook, Mujishikiri (1798), Jikkendana, " Kyoto dolls , 'Where did these come from?'"② A Kyoto beauty. ※Zappai, Kabe no Mimi (1716-36), "A Kyoto doll that is too much for the family to see." [2] Kabuki Shosakuji. Tokiwazu. Nagauta. [1] The original title is "Hakoiri Ayame Ningyo (Boxed Iris Doll) ." First performed in 1843 at the Edo Ichimuraza. [2] The original title is "Shikinohina Asakusa Hakkei (Eight Views of Asakusa in the 14th year of the Tenpo Era). Lyrics by Sakurada Jisuke III. Composed by Kishizawa Shikisa IV and Kineya Katsugoro II. First performed at Edo Kawarazakiza in 1847. The idea is that a soul enters a Kyoto doll made by Hidari Jingoro and it starts moving. Later, Kawatake Mokuami revised the piece and called it "Oyobanu Ude Hidari no Horimono ."

[1] 〘名〙① 京都でつくられた人形。嵯峨人形、鴨川人形、善次人形などがある。狭義には、おかっぱ姿の少女の人形をいう。着衣は別に作ってつける。※咄本・無事志有意(1798)十軒店「京人形(キョウニンギョウ)ども、『こなんはどこからござんした』」② 京美人。※雑俳・壁に耳(1716‐36)「一門の目に余りたる京人形」[2] 歌舞伎所作事。常磐津。長唄。[一] 本名題「箱入あやめ木偶(にんぎょう)」。天保一四年(一八四三)江戸市村座初演。[二] 本名題「時翫雛浅草八景(しきのひなあさくさはっけい)」。三世桜田治助作詞。四世岸沢式佐・二世杵屋勝五郎作曲。弘化四年(一八四七)江戸河原崎座初演。左甚五郎の作った京人形に魂がはいって動き出すという趣向のもの。のち河竹黙阿彌が補訂して「拙腕左彫物(およばぬうでひだりのほりもの)」となった。
