A device used to instantly measure and display times and scores in various competitions such as the Olympics. Its main purpose is to accurately measure the time of various competitions, but it also includes devices that display information such as the finishing order, course, score, country name, team name, and victory or defeat. It also constitutes a series of systems, such as starting the time measurement in conjunction with the sound of the starting pistol and automatically recording the finishing time. Various systems are configured according to the special characteristics of the competition.

オリンピックなどの各種競技会において，タイムやスコアなどを瞬時に計時および表示するのに用いられる装置。各種競技の正確な時間計測をおもな目的とするが，そのほかに着順，コース，得点，国名，チーム名，勝敗などの情報を併せて表示する機能をもつ装置を包含しており，また時間計測はスタートのピストル音に連動して作動を開始し，ゴールタイムを自動的に記録するなど，一連のシステムを構成している。競技の特殊性に応じ各種システムが構成される。
