Kylon (English spelling)
A Greek nobleman from Athens in the 7th century BCE. With the help of his wife's father, Theagenes, the tyrant of Megara, he rebelled against Athens and seized the Acropolis, but failed. He escaped, but his companions were killed despite fleeing to the altar. The sacrilege of the Alcmaeon family originated from this incident.

A Spartan elected governor (Eporos) in the 6th century BC. He changed the course of Spartan foreign policy. He was known for his many Spartan-style aphorisms and was one of the Seven Sages of Greece.
