In 1615 (Genwa 1), Date Masamune appointed his son Hidemune as the head magistrate of the Uwajima Domain. His real name was Kinyori. His stipend was 1,000 koku. On the night of June 30, 1647, he was assassinated by secret orders from the domain's lord Hidemune. The reason for this was that, at Kinyori's suggestion, 30,000 koku of his 100,000 koku domain was allocated as a retirement allowance for Masamune, and that opponents of the Osaka Castle restoration work had slandered him. After that, natural disasters and the accidents of those involved were believed to be the curse of Kinyori's spirit, and in 1653 (Shoo 2), Yamayori Warei Shrine was built, and the belief in Warei spread.

1615年(元和1)伊達政宗が子秀宗につけた宇和島藩の惣奉行。実名公頼。家禄1000石。20年6月30日夜，藩主秀宗の密命により暗殺された。その理由は，所領10万石のうち3万石を公頼の献策により政宗の隠居料として割いたことと，大坂城修復工事などにおいて藩内反対派が讒訴（ざんそ）したことによる。その後，天災や関係者の遭難などが公頼の御霊のたたりとされ，53年(承応2)山頼和霊（やまよりわれい）社(和霊神社)が建てられ，和霊信仰がひろまった。
