Founder of the Achaemenid Persian Empire (reigned 559-530 BC). Known as "the Great King." He established the foundations of the empire by conquering three of the four great kingdoms of the Orient: the Median Kingdom, the Lydian Kingdom, and the Neo-Babylonian Kingdom, excluding Egypt.
