A town in Kunigami County in the northern part of Okinawa Island, Okinawa Prefecture. It occupies the western part of the Motobu Peninsula and includes Sesoko Island and Minna Island off the west coast. The main settlement is Toguchi on the west coast, where a large amount of bonito and other fish are landed, and it is the center of bus transportation to Nago City. The mountainous area is rich in sugar cane and pineapples. The Okinawa Ocean Expo was held in 1975, and the site is now the Ocean Expo Memorial Park. In recent years, both Sesoko and Minna Islands have become tourist destinations, including for marine sports. The peninsula and Sesoko Island are connected by the Sesoko Ohashi Bridge. 54.35 km2 . 沖縄県沖縄島北部,国頭(くにがみ)郡の町。本部半島西部を占め,西方沖合の瀬底島,水納(みんな)島を含む。主集落は西岸の渡久地(とぐち)で,カツオなどの水揚げが多く,名護市方面へのバス交通の中心地。山地ではサトウキビ,パイナップルの産が多い。1975年沖縄海洋博開催。跡地は海洋博記念公園となっている。近年,瀬底・水納両島はマリンスポーツをはじめとした観光地になっている。半島と瀬底島は瀬底大橋で結ばれる。54.35km2。1万3870人(2010)。
