Pencil of rays

A collection of light rays. In geometric optics, light rays are used to show the path that light travels, and the flow of light energy is considered to be a collection of many light rays. When all light rays or their extensions intersect at a single point, they are called a concentric bundle of rays, when they converge to a single point, they are called a converging bundle of rays, and when they spread out from a single point, they are called a diverging bundle of rays. When they do not intersect at a single point, they are called an astigmatic bundle of rays.

光線の集り。幾何光学では光の通る道筋を示すのに光線を用い，光エネルギーの流れは多数の光線の集りであると考える。すべての光線またはその延長が1点で交わるときを共心光線束，1点に集中してゆくようなときを集束光線束，1点から広がってゆくときを発散光線束という。また1点に交わらないときを非点光線束という。
