Located in Unha-ri, Oncheon-gun, South Pyongan-do, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, this is a representative settlement site from the Comb-patterned Pottery (Neolithic) period in the northern west coast region. After trial excavation in 1949, it was excavated in 1950. It is located on the upper part of the gentle southeastern slope of Sogyusan, an independent hill at an altitude of 20m, about 45km west of Pyongyang. The coastline in this area currently recedes about 2km west of the site, but it is believed to have been located very close to the site during the Comb-patterned Pottery period. Five pit dwellings were discovered buried in a shell layer, and more than 800 man-made remains, including comb-patterned pottery, stone tools, and bone and horn tools, as well as natural remains such as animal bones, fish bones, and shells, were collected.
