Gohzaka - Kimimachizaka

Japanese: 徯后坂 - きみまちざか

A scenic spot in the eastern part of Futai Town, Yamamoto County, in northern Akita Prefecture. It is at the end of a Neogene mudstone and tuff mountain range that stretches in a wedge shape from northeast to southwest along the border between Yamamoto County and Kitaakita County, with a highest point of 253m. This scenic spot features a steep cliff several dozen meters high with a lawn front garden dotted with oddly shaped rocks and bizarre stones. From the peak, you can look down on the Yoneshiro River, Fujikoto River, Ani River, and Futai Basin, and enjoy a beautiful view of Mt. Nanakura (287m), which is designated as a scenic beauty conservation forest, and Nanakura Tenjin Shrine. The name is said to come from the fact that Emperor Meiji received a message from the Empress here during his tour of the Tohoku region.

秋田県北部，山本郡二ッ井町東部の景勝地。山本･北秋田郡境沿いに，北東～南西にくさび状にのびた，新第三系泥岩･凝灰岩山地末端で，最高点253m。切り立った数十mの断崖に，奇岩怪石の散在する芝生の前庭が配された奇勝。頂上からは，米代川，藤琴川，阿仁川，二ッ井盆地を眼下にし，風致保護林指定の七座（ななくら）山(287m)や七座天神を眺める佳景が展開する。名称は明治天皇東北巡幸時に，皇后からの便りをここで受けたことに由来するという。
