In early summer, several plum-like white flowers bloom downward at the end of an upright flower stalk. Several leaves grow in clusters at the end of thin underground stems. The leaves have thick stalks, are ovate-elliptical or broadly elliptical, 3-6 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, slightly fleshy, blunt at the tip, and have fine serrated edges. The flower stalk is 15-25 cm long and bears 3-10 flowers. The flowers are broad bell-shaped, have five separate petals, are 1.3 cm in diameter, and have 10 stamens. …
