Rebellion of the Kibi Clan

Japanese: 吉備氏の反乱 - きびうじのはんらん

The Nihon Shoki contains three legends. In the entry for August of the 7th year of the reign of Yuryaku, Kibi Shimomichi Maezuya sent Yugebe Osora, who served as a eunuch at the imperial court, as an envoy when he returned home, but was recalled by Emperor Yuryaku. Upon hearing from Osora that Maezuya had made Oonome and Ootori fight for himself and Koonome and Kotaku Ootori for Yuryaku, and had killed them when Yuryaku's side won, Yuryaku had 30 Mononobe soldiers execute 70 members of his clan. In the entry for the 7th year of the reign of Yuryaku, when Yuryaku heard Kibi Kamimichi Tasa boast about his wife Wakahime at the imperial court, he dispatched Tasa to the Mimana provincial governor to take Wakahime away.

《日本書紀》に3種の伝承を載せている。雄略7年8月条では，吉備下道前津屋（さきつや）が宮廷に宦者（とねり）として仕えていた弓削部虚空（おおそら）を帰郷時に留使したが，雄略天皇によって召還される。前津屋が大女や大雄鶏を自分に，小女や小禿雄鶏を雄略に見立てて戦わせ，雄略の側が勝つとこれを殺しているのを虚空から聞いた雄略は，物部30人をして一族70人を誅滅した。雄略7年是歳条では，吉備上道田狭（たさ）が宮廷で妻の稚媛（わかひめ）を自慢するのを聞いた雄略は，田狭を任那国司に派遣して稚媛を奪った。
