Lord of Matsuyama Domain, Iyo Province. During the Tensho era (1573-1592), Hisamatsu Toshikatsu (Sadatoshi, 1560-1624), a vassal of the Matsudaira clan in Mikawa Province, married the daughter of Mizuno Tadamasa, lord of Kariya Castle (Odai no Kata, Denzuin), and had three children: Yasumoto, Katsutoshi (Yasutoshi), and Sadakatsu. Denzuin had given birth to Ieyasu with her previous husband Matsudaira Hirotada, and Tokugawa Ieyasu and Hisamatsu Sadakatsu (1560-1624) were half-brothers, and were allowed to use the Matsudaira surname. Sadakatsu became the lord of Kakegawa Castle in Totomi Province and then Kuwana Castle in Ise Province, and his son Sadayuki was granted the Matsuyama Domain (Iyo Province) with 150,000 koku of rice in 1635 (Kan'ei 12), which continued as a related domain (family) until the Meiji Restoration. Sadayuki's younger brother Sadatsuna was granted the Kuwana Domain with 110,000 koku of rice (fudai), Sadafusa was granted the Imabari Domain in Iyo Province with 30,000 koku of rice (family), and Katsuyuki, the fourth generation grandson of Sadakatsu's older brother Katsutoshi, became the lord of Tako Domain in Shimousa Province.
