A former town in Naka District, in north-central Ibaraki Prefecture. It is made up of lowlands and hills along the Kuji River. The city center is a distribution center for goods in the midstream of the Kuji River, and is served by the Suigun Line. Rice is the main industry, but tobacco cultivation, sericulture, horticulture, and livestock farming are also thriving. There are also manufacturing industries such as precision machinery and tools, electrical equipment, and sewing. There is a Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries radiation breeding laboratory. In October 2004, it merged with Gozenyama Village in Higashiibaraki District, Yamakata Town in Naka District, Miwa Village, and Ogawa Village to become a city, forming Hitachi-Omiya City. Area: 82.84 km2 . Population: 27,445 (2003).

A former town in Naka-gun, located in the base of the Oku-Tango Peninsula in northern Kyoto Prefecture. It is a production area for Tango crepe, which continues from Mineyama in the north, and is home to the central processing plant of the Textile Industry Association. It produces rice and also raises livestock. The Kitakinki Tango Railway runs through the town. In April 2004, it merged with Mineyama-cho in Naka-gun, Amino-cho in Takeno-gun, Tango-cho, Yasaka-cho in Takeno-gun, and Kumihama-cho in Kumano-gun to form Kyotango City. 68.93 km2 . Population 11,074 (2003).

Omiya [town] [Omiya]

An old town in Watarai County, occupying the mountainous area in the middle reaches of the Miyagawa River in central Mie Prefecture. The main settlement is Takihara, which is on the Kisei Main Line and is home to Takihara Shrine, a branch shrine of Ise Shrine, and was once the domain of the shrine. The town produces a lot of timber and limestone, and has mineral springs in Aso. In February 2005, it merged with Kisei Town and Ouchiyama Village in Watarai County to become a town, Taiki Town. 100.68 km2 . 5,322 people (2003).

京都府北部,奥丹後半島の基部にある中郡の旧町。北の峰山から続く丹後縮緬(ちりめん)の産地で,織物工業組合の中央加工場がある。米を産し,畜産も行う。北近畿タンゴ鉄道が通じる。2004年4月中郡峰山町,竹野郡網野町,丹後町,弥栄町,熊野郡久美浜町と合併し,京丹後市となる。68.93km2。1万1074人(2003)。

大宮[町]【おおみや】

三重県中部,宮川中流部の山地を占める度会(わたらい)郡の旧町。主集落は紀勢本線が通じる滝原で,伊勢神宮の別宮滝原宮があり,古く神宮領であった。木材を多産し石灰石も産する。阿曾に鉱泉がある。2005年2月度会郡紀勢町,大内山村と合併し町制,大紀町となる。100.68km2。5322人(2003)。
