...The legend of the flying bowl of Yoneyama, which is linked to Taicho, the founder of Hakusan in Kaga, also shows that this mountain was a target for maritime traffic. Yoneyama is famous as a mountain that worships Yakushi Nyorai, and in the Daido Ruijuho from the early Heian period, it is written that "Enayama medicine is the tradition of Yunoie in Mishima, Echigo Province, and originally belonged to Sukunahikona Shrine," which tells us that medicine was at the basis of Yoneyama's Yakushi faith and also tells us that Yoneyama was once called Mount Ena. It attracted a great deal of faith in the Middle Ages, as is clear from the fact that the head priest of the Shingon sect Yoneyama-ji Mikkō-in, who serves as the head priest of the Yakushido Hall at the foot of the mountain, was appointed by the Muromachi shogunate, and that Yoneyama-ji was ranked as one of the Ten Temples. ...
