Charter base (English spelling)

Charter base (English spelling)
A unique Japanese method of calculating ship operating income and costs, abbreviated as C/B. The calculation method divides the various expenses that make up ship operating costs into those that vary depending on the operation mode, route, loading and unloading port, and the type and amount of cargo, and those that do not, with the former expenses being called operating expenses and the latter expenses being called ship expenses. In order to make it easier to measure the profitability of the transportation contract, the charter basis is the gross revenue remaining after deducting operating expenses from freight revenue, converted into a monthly deadweight ton.
