A Chinese revolutionary soldier. Chasui (Chahar, Suiyuan) was one of the leaders of the anti-Japanese alliance army. His courtesy name was Shiwu. He was from Fugou County, Henan Province. He served under Feng Yuxiang from an early age, and became a military commander in 1927. When Feng launched the anti-Chiang Kai-shek war in 1930, he joined Chiang Kai-shek's central army midway through the war, and became commander of the 21st Army and head of the Ningxia Provincial Government. In 1931, as the commander-in-chief of the 22nd Route Army, he participated in the suppression of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army in southeastern Henan Province, but resigned after the outbreak of the Manchurian Incident and went to Europe and the Soviet Union. After the First Shanghai Incident in 1932, he returned to China and joined the Chinese Communist Party in opposition to Chiang Kai-shek's policy towards Japan. At the end of May 1933, he formed the Chasui People's Anti-Japanese Alliance Army in Zhangjiakou with Feng Yuxiang and Fang Zhenwu, and was appointed commander of the Second Army and general commander of the Northern Route. He then participated in the anti-Japanese movement, but was arrested in the French Concession in Tianjin in November 1934, handed over to the Kuomintang, and shot to death in Beiping (Beijing) by the Beiping Branch of the Military Commission.
