Soviet philosopher and social scientist. He joined the revolutionary movement at a young age and became a member of the Bolsheviks in 1904. After the October Revolution, he served as deputy director of the Central Archives, a member of the Lenin Institute's executive committee, and director of the Marx-Engels-Lenin Institute. ソ連の哲学者，社会科学者。若くして革命運動にはいり，1904年ボリシェビキの一員となる。十月革命後は中央文書保管局次長，レーニン研究所幹部会員，マルクス=エンゲルス=レーニン研究所長を歴任。また《マルクス=エンゲルス全集》（いわゆる旧MEGA）や《レーニン全集》の編集にも従事。
