Siberian platform

The Siberian Plateau is a vast hilly plateau 2,000 km wide, located north of Lake Baikal, bounded by the Lena River to the east and the Yenisei River to the west. It is also called the Siberian Plateau, and was formerly called the Angara Shield. The bedrock of the Siberian Plateau is metamorphic rocks and granite from the Archean to the early to middle Proterozoic eras, but these older rocks are only exposed in the Aldan massif in the southeast and the small Anabar massif in the north. The rest of the vast Siberian Plateau is covered by sedimentary and volcanic rocks from the late Proterozoic to the Phanerozoic eras (especially the Mesozoic era).

バイカル湖の北方，東はレナ川，西はエニセイ川で囲まれる幅2000kmの広大な丘陵性台地をいう。シベリア卓状地ともいい，古くはアンガラ楯状地Angara shieldといわれた。シベリア台地の基盤は始生代から原生代前～中期の変成岩と花コウ岩であるが，これらの古い岩石が露出しているのは南東部のアルダン地塊と北部の小さなアナバル地塊だけで，残りの広大なシベリア台地は原生代後期から顕生代(とくに中生代)の堆積岩層や火山岩層でおおわれている。
